Kinesiotaping and McConnell Taping Therapy
At your first appointment, your Physical Therapist will perform a thorough evaluation and develop a personalized rehabilitation treatment program with you that may include Kinesiotaping/McConnell taping Therapy.
WHAT Is Kinesiotaping and McConnell Taping Therapy?
Kinesio Tape (KT), or kinesiology tape, is a newly popularized modality that is used by therapists trained in the Kinesio Taping Method by Certified Kinesio Taping Instructors (CKTI).
Kinesio Tape is a latex-free hypoallergenic cotton fiber tape with an acrylic heat-activated backing that stretches only along its longitudinal axis.
The McConnell Taping Method is a technique that tapes body parts to affect a specific biomechanical movement.
Benefits of Kinesiotaping and McConnell Taping:
It is more economical over time than other modalities, it is easy to learn and apply, there are less types of tape, and it may be used over a longer period of time. The Kinesio Taping Method differs from athletic strapping tape and the traditional McConnell Taping Method.
The McConnell Taping Method is a technique that tapes body parts to affect a specific biomechanical movement.
McConnell Tape uses a very rigid, highly adhesive tape that is applied for no more than 18 hours and often for shorter periods of time due to patient discomfort.

- A review of your health history and your specific symptoms.
- A thorough examination that includes assessing the quality and quantity of your movements, and any factors that might put you at risk for delayed recovery or might indicate a serious health problem.
- Assessment of how you use your body at work, at home, during sports, and at leisure.
- Determination of the diagnosis and impairments that are causing your pain and establishment of a treatment plan of care.

What Our Clients Say
Went to the Waynesville location after knee surgery. Julie is a phenomenal physical therapist. I appreciate all the time she took with me, starting from the initial exam. I went from a bending range of 67 degrees to 130 degrees in 9 weeks, 15 visits . Of course, I was a good patient, and did do my exercises at home. While some of the exercises did get boring after a while, having Julie measure my progress every week made it all worth while. I appreciate the personal attention I was given, even while there were other patients there. Christina, Physical Therapy Assistant, was great also. Both were very friendly, made the visits pleasant, we had some great chats. Kelly, at the front desk, always greeted everyone cheerfully! I would highly recommend working with Julie! Christine is absolutely amazing at helping people heal and be healthy! Thank you much!
